Title : Nurse development plan in cardiological and cardiac surgery settings
Abstract:
The world where we live is dynamic and in a state of continuous change, which has consequences on Health Organisations. The ability of always being ready to keep up becomes therefore essential in order to provide high quality care and safety.
On the one hand, the possibility of abrupt changes of people's health conditions renders Cardiological and Cardiac Surgery time-dependent, as in the case of an heart attack or an aortic dissection. On the other hand, it is also necessary to take care of patients with chronic diseases, such as heart failure or cardiac amyloidosis.
In order to answer properly to the needs of people with cardiac pathologies, it is important to invest in the research and education of professional nurses, in an ongoing process of formation and qualification.
The Nurse Development Plan is an helpful instrument which can be used by the Nurse Coordinator to create an efficient and effective educational plan. Starting from the analysis of the competences and performances of the Professionals, this system aims at an educational personalisation through the examination of the individual expectations and interests. As a result, there will be a stronger involvement of the cooperators with a consequent increase of empowerment.
Through the Nurse Development Plan it is possible to examine the strengths and weaknesses of the collective educational system and to grant a higher quality of care and safety both for the patients and the professionals.
